Carson was born to a relatively normal family. His upbringing was nothing special but there was nothing for him to complain about, either. Every night he came home to food on the table and a roof over his head and even though he didn’t get extravagant things like the rest of his classmates, it was more than enough. He was born to a loving mother, Hee Gyuri, a nurse in the war in her youth who then moved to be a caretaker for the sick and spent her time working in hospitals as a nurse. She taught him to be kind, to put love before all. And to a stoic, intelligent father, Hee Chang Sr, a professor of psychology and philosophy at the local college. Hot headed and stern, who pushed Carson to his limits and encouraged him to challenge the ideals of the world around him and the importance of being a man.Life at home was perfect but growing up outside? Not so much. To say that Carson was an outsider is an understatement. He was extremely scrawny, smaller than all of the other kids and had to wear coke bottle glasses so thick that it would be impossible to see without them. He was bullied relentlessly for everything that he did. Being so close to his parents who treated him as an adult made him even more odd and hard to relate to the kids around him. He would be chased home from school, beaten up and one time was beaten up so badly that he was hospitalized for a week.And this was the way that school went for him, miserable and always running until he could go home to his real friends that he would find in films. They made him feel something and the idea that he could create worlds and situations intrigued him like nothing else. Yes, it put him in isolation, his parents worried that he would be missing out on the experiences life had to offer. But he lived plenty of lives. The life of a knight saving a princess, a vampire who stalked through the night— all through film. Enticed by the way a series of pictures could tell a story— to make people f e e l something.It wasn’t until he hit a growth spurt and got accepted to the University of Southern California— the best film school in the United States— that he began to change. To find himself and his voice, belonging in a place of like minded individuals. Even though the language barrier was hard at first, it also helped him learn quickly on how to communicate without words. To translate through mannerisms and with his eyes, just like he would in his films. Retuning to Seoul, he returned with confidence. Somewhat. No matter how many girls or guys he got in school and how much success he would find in his career.He started out as a porn editor, easy money that would put food on the table until he got an internship at Lotte Entertainment.Returning to Korea became the beginning of his change. He found friends that pushed him to want to be better and gain his confidence to be more than just a punching bag. He began to blossom and continues to do so. He used to be a boy that would never fight back but now he is a man who will never back down.

Carson is almost an exact replica of his father, from their height, down to their fiery tempers.hee gyuri: DECEASED.hee gyuri is a nurse in seoul's hospitals. she is a small, outspoken woman who is extremely resourceful as she is creative and caring. growing up, she stayed home with Carson, becoming his best friend in the absence of children who bullied him at school. though her opinions clash with her husbands from time to time, she taught Carson that love for yourself and others are the most important.
